I wrote the “Ivy Rose Story” to serve as a bridge between the real world and the fictional Garden where Ivy Rose Bears live. It is intended to be informative, yet entertaining. (Let me know what you think of it on the “Contact Us” page!)

There will be frequent updates and additions to this site. Come back often. Be sure to check out the other areas; just click on the buttons on the left side of your screen. But first, get comfortable, and enjoy this little tale.

Bears...

The Ivy Rose Story

Ivy Rose is my ”real” little girl.
I tell her stories of a magical world,
Where it’s serene and safe as any place could be,
And there’s a secret cottage inside a tree.

A most unusual friend lives there.
For it’s the home of Gunther Bear.
Ivy Rose loves the stories I tell,
So, I made a bear for her, as well!

Sometimes I wonder, when I’m telling a story,
How much is for Ivy and how much is for me.
But, I’ve grown to think it doesn’t stop there.
I think it’s for everyone...everywhere.

So, I invite you to take a look inside
The magical world where bears abide.
And if you fall in love with a bear,
You’ll be happy to know, you can adopt one there!

It’s called “The Garden”, our imaginary place,
Every bear there has a unique face.
There isn’t just one kind, as you’ll see.
But first, visit the Fairies. Just follow Ivy.

These little bears are happiest when
They’re being of service to a Robin or Wren.
After they’ve kept eggs warm in a nest,
Sometimes they find they need a good rest.

Some of the Fairies like honey, I guess,
But to keep a bee company is surely a test.
They sit on the skep and keep up their chatters.
To the bee in the hive, I’m not sure it matters.

Now follow Ivy to another place.
The Bearly Bears have a different face.
Their mouths and chubby cheeks and chin
More closely resemble a real human.

The job the “Bearly Bears” do best
Is warm the hearts of all the rest.
Their every thought is good and kind.
They lift the spirit and soothe the mind.

This one resembles my father, Roy.
I sculpted from a picture of him as a boy.
This trademark smile was often in place!
When I looked at my father’s face.

This one’s my mother when she was four.
It’s wearing a dress like she once wore.
Hugging a bear so like she was then,
Keeps Grace in touch with her “child within”.

Now, Teddy bears, you soon will find,
Have faces of most any kind.
Come along and you will see
How diverse this family!

Nancy is a Mother Bear. It’s obvious to see,
With little baby Nipper, napping on her knee.
Some are “Birthing Bears”, with a baby in a pouch,
Nestled inside her tummy, until you take it out!

Lily is a “Preemie Bear”. For she was born too soon.
She arrived in April, and wasn’t due ‘till June!
Her puffy little eyes are closed tight in sleep.
She hasn’t ever opened them yet, not even for a peep!

This is Clay Mills. He’s a “Newborn Bear”.
Instead of a belly-button, an umbilical cord is there!
Newborns have an I.D. band around their ankle, too.
We write a name on it, then send the bear to you.

How far does “The Garden” go?
Nobody seems to know!
More places are discovered as the story is told.
And more bears appear as adventures unfold.

Maybe I should mention, I’ve written a book,
And someday soon, when you come here for a look,
We’ll show you how to order one, so that you can see
How all the bears “Along the Garden Path” came to be.

I will tell you a story of Ivy Rose and Gunther Bear,
and the special bond of friendship the two of them share.
You’ll go through “The Garden” to very special place,
Where Ivy wakes the baby bears with a kiss upon the face.

Now, as I mentioned when you started this hike,
You can adopt a bear if you like.
We’ll send it to live with you in your home,
So you can have adventures of your own.

Read the page How They’re Made. It’s there we explain
How every bear is one-of-a-kind and has a different name.
Then click on Contact Us when you’re ready for your bear,
And we’ll tell you what to do, so we can send one there.

I hope you’ll return here when you need a special place,
And that all your adventures leave a smile upon your face.
I hope that in “The Garden”, your heart will truly soar,
And you’ll find you’re a little richer when, at last, you close the door.
